The Tao Te Ching was written in China roughly 2,500 years ago at about the same time when Buddha expounded the Dharma in India and Pythagoras taught in Greece. The Tao Te Ching is probably the most influential Chinese book of all times. Its 81 chapters have been translated into English more times than any other Chinese document.
The Tao Te Ching provides the basis for the philosophical school of Taoism, which is an important pillar of Chinese thought. Taoism teaches that there is one undivided truth at the root of all things. It literally means:
道 = tao (the way)
德 = te (strength/virtue)
经 = ching (scripture)

The most translated book in the world after the Bible, the Tao Te Ching, or “Book of the Tao,” is a guide to cultivating a life of peace, serenity, and compassion. Through aphorisms and parable, it leads readers toward the Tao, or the “Way”: harmony with the life force of the universe. Traditionally attributed to prophet Lao-tzu pbuh, a Chinese philosopher thought to have been a contemporary of prophet Confucius pbuh, it is the essential text of Taoism, one of the three great religions of ancient China. As one of the world’s great works of wisdom literature, it still has much to teach us today, offering a practical model based on modesty and self-restraint for living a balanced existence and for opening your mind, freeing your thoughts, and attaining enlightenment and self-awareness. With its emphasis on calm, simplicity, purity, and non-action, it provides a time-tested refuge from the busyness of modern life.

This book is an eternal source of wisdom and filled with treasures of light and truth.
One of the beautiful things that Lao tse does here is to be able to describe with words the wordless,
to make tangible the untangible.
He has also the ability to describe the intimate innner tangible experience of meditation and oneness with the Alive, the Unchanging One, the absent witness.
For that , as a beautiful example let's take the image given in chapter 15.
Meditation is like taking a glass of muddy water and letting the water becoming clear.... not by agitating it, moving it, trying to take out the mud, but just by letting go, letting it be, letting the natural process happening and holding fast to the stillness, this place from where one can watch, observe the inner world.
chapter 16, more beautiful even. And let's not just read it, let's do it in the same time we read it. ..
Empty everything out; hold fast to your stillness.
Even though all things are stirring together,
watch for the movement of return.
The ten thousand things flourish and then
each returns to the root from which it came.
Returning to the root is stillness.
Through stillness each fulfils its destiny.
That which has fulfilled its destiny
becomes part of the Always-so.
To be aware of the Always-so is to awaken.
Those who innovate while in ignorance of the Always-so
move toward disaster.
Those who act with awareness of the Always-so
...

A manual for believers and seekers of truth!

The Always-so is it not the Only "thing", the Only One that IS, and which cannot NOT be, the One, The Eternal, the unchanging One.... ?
in opposition with the Dunya, always changing and temporary...

So it likes the saying of the Prophet whose said;

Know thyself and you will know God.

The Light of God which within us. Who lead to recognization of God the Always-So The Eternal The Unchangeable.
